"Vesper"

Wanted to finish off 2022 with a fresh upload!
A certain NPC for our mod project, I won't go into any intended narrative details. Her name is simply "Vesper" for now.
Based loosely on a favourite character/armourset from the original Demon's Souls.

This one took longer than I would normally take due to me changing my mind and restarting almost every individual part multiple times. Certain proportional quirks of the character are centered to how Dark Souls works with it's rig, where the head's are smaller, shoulders broader etc, so it's a little more stylized. The face was also a challenge since it's not my specialty, I had to give her a more gaunt/tall face to make the helmet not look weird (covering the nose and only seeing mouth and eyes looked hilarious).

I don't claim to be an animator, the animation/rig work I've done here is purely just to show the asset how I imagine it behaving. It's not perfect, but I tried my best there with my limited animation skills. Hand keyframe animated the bone-headed way with my dodgy rig in 3DS Max. Purely just to be cute and realize my creation more to what I picture in my head.

~Zbrush used for all main modeling.
~3ds max for structural modeling/blockouts, retopology, UV mapping, rigging, animation.
~Tyflow within 3DS Max for some particle/mesh work for the background/scene.
~Substance Painter for texturing.
~Midjourney used briefly for the initial explorative stages of the front shield design
~Photoshop for painting the actual shield design.
~Various misc foliage Megascans assets and Marmoset materials used for background scene flavour
~All images/video rendered from Marmoset Toolbag 4.

The bolts have a magnetic strip of metal that magnetizes to the metal disc inserted into the top firing mount, keeping it in place during melee movement, the bow string can also lay over the bolt for extra support.
